October
2007 General Meeting:
Our
General Meeting on Tuesday, October 2nd, featured an exciting
Members Night look at ACUG's new "Vista Ultimate Laptop"
presented by club president Barbara Kreiss. Member's Nights are a great
time to discuss any computer related problems you may have with your
fellow members. Everyone has either a question or a tip to share and
it is a great way to make new friends and help out your fellow club
members at the same time.
Vista
Ultimate is Microsoft's newest top of the line consumer and small
business operating system. The Dell Inspiron
1520 laptop is state of the art with many features that will be useful to the club.
Also installed is MS Virtual PC 2007 software which in turn, has MS Windows 98 SE installed inside a Virtual Machine for demonstration. Virtual PC will be utilized in the
near future for the New Users Special Interest Group that meets on the 4th Wednesday to allow the User Group to cover older Microsoft technologies
with the Vista laptop.
Members are encouraged to take a close look at at
this capable machine which is basically a portable desktop. Also installed is Microsoft's latest Office software:
MS Office 2007 Pro and
also Adobe's latest version of Acrobat Pro, version 8.
