November
2007 General Meeting:
Our
General Meeting on Tuesday, November 6th, will feature an
entertaining look at some of our member's "Neat Gadgets
and Fun Stuff for Christmas". This popular program
will give you quick looks at some of the neat and fun gadgets out
there that members are using to make life more interesting, productive,
"cool" and even to save money. All members are encouraged to bring
their own favorite gadgets and share them with the group.
VP
Graham Paul will show us how to use Skype, an Internet phone
service that allows you to make free long distance calls to other
Skype users. The service can also call land and cell phones
for a very low fee.
Secretary Richard Kennon will show us how to use a digital
camera to shoot those wonderful holiday photos, download
them to a computer, and use
them. He will also introduce us to PhotoSafe, a
great way
to safely store photos from your camera while on vacation.
President Barbara Kreiss will show us a Garmin PDA, the iQue
M5. Featuring all the programs and features of a Windows
Pocket PC, this svelte little item also has a fully functioning GPS
or Global Positioning Satellite receiver which can be used with
mapping programs. As a special treat, this PDA has been custom
programmed by Joran Kreiss to pinpoint the users position on U.S.
Geodetic Survey maps and also on aerial photographic survey maps
available from the U.S.G.S.
In addition, in the spirit of safe
computing, Graham Paul will give us an overview presentation on
Symantec's Norton Internet Security Suite software
installed on ACUG's new laptop.
ACUG Nominations for officers:
Nomination slips will be available
at the membership table so that
members may nominate themselves or their friends as candidates for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Program Director, Publicity Director, and Director
