GIS SIG:

SIG Leader: Bob Devlin
Phone: see newsletter, to RSVP
Meeting Place: New York Fitness Center
When: 4th Wednesday
Time:
5:30 PM

The purpose of the Geographical Information System Special Interest Group, [or GIS SIG] is to help each other understand the complexities of geographical information systems and help each other work through problems with GIS software. The SIG will include some discussion on how a GIS works and how information is geo-referenced to a specific location on the earth. We will bring examples to the meeting of how we can use GIS to solve planning problems and communicate effectively the results generated by the software.

ArcView will be the primary software analyzed and I will bring a laptop with projector to the meeting so we can visualize together how it works. Other software will be evaluated as class participants desire. We will also establish an e-mail help list so we can support each other between meetings.
